🧴 Beauty & Grooming term

SPF

Sun protection factor: a measure of how well a sunscreen protects against UVB rays, which cause sunburn.

Why it matters

SPF tells you how much UVB protection a sunscreen offers, which matters in Singapore’s strong year-round sun.

🇸🇬 In Singapore

Singapore’s UV index often reaches very high or extreme levels around midday. NEA advises using sunscreen of at least SPF 30, seeking shade and taking extra care between 11am and 3pm.

Tips before you buy

  • Choose broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  • Apply generously and reapply when outdoors.
  • Lightweight textures are easier to wear in humidity.
